So Far, the Hottest Day of the Year

Reminds me why I want to live in Maine…because it isn’t 85 degrees and so muggy you can hardly breathe there at 6am.  When I left work at 3:30pm, the thermometer in the truck said it was 104 degrees.  Now seriously, that is just far too hot for me.  Especially when I don’t like to sweat and when I can’t breathe.  C tried to reason with me and tell me it was “cool” in the shade.  I told him I thought the heat had gone to his head and we went inside.  I really hate it when it is this hot because I am unable to exercise outside.  It is really putting a damper on my 5K training.

I had done a little research on the Boston Marathon last week.  If you were in church on Sunday, you learned that it is 26.2 grueling miles long.  Hub laughs at me and says there isn’t any way possible that I can do that….which he is probably right. I told him way to give support! But I am going to practice what I preach (several short-term, reachable goals until you achieve your overall long-term goal), and short-term goal #1 is successfully complete, respectively, a 5K.  Then after a few of those, maybe the Boston Half Marathon.  I am just unable to get outside to run, even early in the morning….my asthma won’t allow it.  So, I’ve been trying to do the elliptical every night (which it is even uncomfortable to do with it hot outside r/t the windows we have in our house).  In another month, I’m going to try(notice the emphasis here) to get up at 4:30 every  morning before work and run.  I only wish running came as easy for me as it did Forrest Gump (another thing you will know if you were at church Sunday morning).

Hopefully, after tomorrow, we will see a little relief from the heat.  We are already planning Maine Vacation #4 for next year.  Sis, BIL, Baby R and my Dad are planning on going with us.  I think we have already found  a rental house in Bar Harbor.  I simply cannot wait.  We also recently subscribed to Down East magazine, which I encourage you to check out.

Hope you all have a great week!  Godchicks….see you tomorrow night!

You can do it, I am not so sure about the 4:30 in the morning after all we both know you are not a morning person….But you will get to you Marathon. I love to run, but since I have gotten older I find it challenging myself. Hang in there.

I’ve found that morning exercise is great even though I’m not a morning person AT ALL, either. I love that time to clear my mind and just breathe through a goal. It inspires the rest of my day…but, I haven’t done that in a LONG time. I bet you can do it if you have a big goal in front of you! Just drink a ton!

Best Wishes to you, dear girl. That is quite a goal, but hey, shoot for the stars. I’ll be watching and who knows maybe I’ll catch your inspiration. Heaven knows I need to.
