Almost Wednesday

L had his appointment with Dr.Chernobilsky this afternoon.  He is scheduled for surgery (bilateral ear tubes, tonsils and adenoids) on March 17th. I got the results of his hearing test today also.  We already knew that the results of the second hearing test were worse than the first one, but we didn’t know exactly what it meant.  In the first test, he began losing his hearing at 10 decibels; in the second test, he begins at 30 decibels in one ear and 35 in the other.  Dr. C said this was much worse, but expected due to the amount of fluid he has in both ears. He couldn’t believe how well his speech was actually developed due to the amount of decline in his hearing.  He said that he really expected him to have a speech delay, but was pleased when I finally got him to talk (yes, I know, one of my children actually quiet….they never talk when you want them too!). I was very encouraged by that.  I chose March 17th as the surgery date because that week is hub’s spring break.  Dr.C did not seem to think that it would cause further hearing damage if we held off til then.  If all goes well, he won’t have to stay overnight.

Work is just insanely busy.  As soon as people were discharged today, there were people waiting to go in those beds.  The flu has hit.  Hopefully 2 flu shots will keep me from getting sick.  I am far too busy to get sick.  I did find about an hour today to work on  more Room Service programming.  This is really becoming a thorn in my side, but I am trying to leave it at work and not worry about it at home.

I finally found time to look up MEN I and MEN II on the internet.  I had several of the symptoms of MEN II (fatigue, severe headaches, fast resting heart rate, sweating, flushing, irritability, just to name a few).  It also said that these symptoms can come and go (which the sweats and headaches do come and go).  For instance, I woke up several times last night so hot and sweaty that I had practically soaked through my pjs. Hopefully it isn’t anything, but I go see Dr.Shuttleworth on March 3rd. My reflux is a little better since starting on the Nexium, but doing without Diet Dr.Pepper is about to kill me.  Maybe I will get some answers then.  I’m sure I’m in for a gamut of lab work at the very least.  Sounds like more medical bills.  I think as soon as we get something paid off, someone else gets sick and has to have something done.

C is playing a Shrek video game and L is playing with Power Rangers, so I think I am going to go try to read my Team Kid lesson for tomorrow night.

I missed your post about what you have been going through healthwise. I guess it was around the tornado time. Anyways, I am so sorry that you have been feeling so bad. Reflux is not very much fun at all and I’m glad the Nexium is helping! I’m praying that it is just reflux and nothing else.

Also, I wanted to add that my allergist said that they have done several studies where people who thought they had asthma… actually had reflux. Even people who had been on meds for asthma for years were completely asthma free and able to go off of all asthma meds after getting their reflux under control. He also said that only like 25% or so have symptoms of reflux. So, it’s possible that you have had reflux all along and never knew it.

    Either way, still praying!

After being so careful about walking through the lobby and hallways at peak times, late this afternoon I took a bathroom break and as I was walking back to my office, a man walked out of the lab–almost running into me, coughed right in my face w/o covering his mouth or anything. I am gonna be upset if I made it this long and get it from being coughed on!!!!

I know why you’re so concerned about the reflux and the other symptoms, and I want you to know that your best friend is praying for you and understands that you’re worried. I love you and I’m here for you! M
